Privacy Policy

Last Updated: July 7, 2011

Penzu Inc. (“Penzu,” “we,” “our,” “us”) values your privacy and understands the importance of protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your data. Terms not defined here have the same meanings as outlined in the Penzu Terms and Conditions of Use.

1. Collection of Personal Information

When you create an account on www.penzu.com.in or penzu.com (the “Site”), you provide us with certain details such as your first name, last name, and email address (“Registration Data”). Additional information such as age, gender, location, interests, and preferences may be collected if you complete a private profile. For Penzu Pro Accounts, credit card details including numbers, expiry dates, and billing information may also be required.

When you contact us via email or other channels, we may retain those communications to process your inquiries and enhance our services.

We only collect personal information when necessary and will clearly explain why it is required and how it will be used.

In Short...

We don’t share or sell any of your Registration Data with third parties. Any unauthorized reading or sharing of User Data or entries by Penzu or Penzu Employees is forbidden. Doing so would violate this Privacy Policy and the ethos of our Company and Service.

If, however, we are ordered by a court of law, we must comply and send whatever entries we have. If those entries happen to be encrypted, we cannot unlock them and will send them as is. Encrypted entries cannot be read by anyone but you. So for extremely sensitive data, we recommend using our Encryption Lock.

2. Collection of Site Information

We gather technical details such as browser type and IP address when you access the Site. Cookies, which store data on your device, are also used to improve your experience. While most browsers accept cookies by default, you can adjust settings to refuse them. Please note that some features of the Site may not function properly if cookies are disabled.

3. Use of Personal Information

Your personal information is primarily used to provide and improve our services, manage your account, and communicate updates about our products. You can unsubscribe from emails through provided links or by deactivating your account on the Account page.

We may also use your information for research, surveys, and product development. Penzu does not sell or rent your data to third parties without your explicit consent. Credit card details for Penzu Pro subscriptions are used solely for billing and are not stored after transactions unless automatic renewal is enabled.

If we need to use your information for a purpose not outlined here, we will seek your consent and offer an opt-out option.

4. Use of Site Information

Site data is collected to analyze traffic patterns, enhance usability, and improve the overall user experience. Cookies assist with session management and tracking external link engagement. No personal data is tied to IP addresses or shared with third parties.

5. Disclosure of Personal Information

Your personal data will not be disclosed without your consent unless required by law or necessary to:

  • Comply with legal obligations.
  • Investigate potential violations of our Terms of Use.
  • Prevent fraud, security, or technical issues.
  • Protect the rights, safety, or property of Penzu, users, or the public.

For encrypted User Content, Penzu cannot access or recover data unless you provide the correct encryption password.

6. Data Accuracy

We strive to maintain accurate and up-to-date records. Please notify us of any changes to your information. If you have concerns about data accuracy, contact us to verify or update your details.

7. Security of Personal Information

Your privacy and data security are priorities. Penzu Pro users can enhance security with encryption features. While we employ robust security measures, no system is entirely secure. Users are encouraged to password-protect sensitive data and avoid sharing credentials.

8. Anonymous Messaging

Our platform allows users to send anonymous messages. Sender details remain confidential unless disclosure is required under applicable laws.

9. Children’s Privacy

We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we discover data from a child under 13, it will be deleted, and their account deactivated.

10. Minors Aged 13–18

Minors aged 13 to 18 must obtain parental consent before sharing information online. Parents or guardians must agree to our Terms of Use on behalf of minors.

11. External Links

Our Site may link to third-party websites. Penzu is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of these sites. Review their privacy policies for more information.

12. Third-Party Services

We may partner with third parties to analyze site usage. While they may use cookies on our behalf, no personally identifiable information is shared.

13. Ownership Changes

In the event of a business transfer, your data may be transferred to the new owner, remaining subject to the existing Privacy Policy.

14. Access to Information

You can request access to your personal data or inquire about its use by contacting us. Requests will be processed per applicable privacy laws.
